An accomplished leader wielding more than 30 years in the machine tool and IT industry, Thom Berg excels as the owner of CNC Surgeon LLC, a company that provides phone, email, and field support for the repair of electronics, mechanical equipment, CNC machines, and automated control systems. In this capacity, he leverages his experience to deliver high-quality solutions in the field—providing on-site repair services for customers and addressing any and all machine issues at the facility. These can range from minor adjustments to complete equipment overhauls by replacing gears, motors, or bearings.

Mr. Berg previously devoted decades as a service tech for Heidenhain and a service engineer at United Precision Services, Inc., between 1995 and 2022. He also owned his company, Thom-Com Services, from 1995 to 2010. All throughout his career, he’s made a remarkable impact by consistently ensuring customer satisfaction and demonstrating exceptional problem-solving skills. Upon arriving at job sites, he often encounters initial doubt from customers due to previously unsuccessful repair attempts. But, within just 15 minutes, he adeptly resolves the issues and showcases his expertise, from which he finds great satisfaction.

Attributing much of his success to his father, Mr. Berg learned valuable lessons through his childhood, laying a strong foundation for his personal and professional growth. He prepared for his career with electrical and electronics engineering coursework at Harper College from 1994 to 1995. Looking ahead to the future, he plans to expand the business by hiring more employees and contributing to the machine tool industry’s growth; he’s also always eager to learn new and emerging technologies and methods to improve his skills and services.
